As a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Jessica has a passion for helping individuals of all ages find their voice. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 1999 at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Since receiving her Master’s degree in Communication Cisorders from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002 and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2003, she has worked in a variety of settings including hospital acute care, skilled nursing, outpatient rehabilitation, home health, and private practice across the state of Colorado. She is also a VitalStim Therapy certified provider, which uses neuromuscular electrical stimulation in the treatment of dysphagia (swallowing disorders).
Jessica has worked with a wide range of populations and disorders and has also been a supervisor and mentor to new SLPs completing their clinical fellowship year. A lifelong learner, she stays abreast of the latest research in speech therapy and language acquisition. She is particularly interested in the role of joint attention in language development and incorporates this into her therapy sessions to foster meaningful interactions. Jessica recognizes that communication is a bridge that connects individuals to the world around them.
Jessica’s commitment to her profession is evident in the progress her clients make and the smiles on their faces as they reach new milestones. She finds immense joy in witnessing the moment a child communicates a want or need for the first time, knowing she played a part in unlocking that door. When not practicing speech therapy, Jessica is active in her church and enjoys spending time exploring the beauty of Colorado with her husband and their five children.
