Kid-Centric, Trauma Informed Multidisciplinary Care
Building Confident Kids
Confident kids are connected kids.
Time and again, we hear from parents longing for a deeper connection with their children.
Helping kids learn to communicate effectively and better manage their emotions builds confidence and, ultimately, fosters connection between them and their parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and communities.
At Adventure Learning Center, our services are evidence-based, research-driven, and child-focused. Our approach is compassionate, trauma informed, play-based learning. We believe in building trust and using positive reinforcement to nurture and inspire growth and change in kids and families.

Yes you do. If you have Medicaid, you can come to us with just a doctor’s referral. If you have any other insurance, you must have a doctor’s referral with a comprehensive autism diagnosis.
Trauma informed care operates under the belief that there are many experiences that influence a child’s emotions and behaviors.
Rather than focusing on changing the child’s behavior through the traditional reward-punishment model, our therapists are trained to take a holistic, compassionate approach to each child’s care. We avoid techniques that may add additional trauma to the child and instead, use methods that meet the child’s needs and reinforce positive behavior.
We are able to de-escalate otherwise tense or antagonistic situations, help the child to self-regulate and communicate their needs and wishes, and then positively reinforce these behaviors.
Rather than focusing on “fixing” the child’s behavior, we are increasing their skills and their confidence, which ultimately fosters behavior change intrinsically.
Witnessing the transformation of kids from being sad, withdrawn, or aggressive to happy, confident, and expressive is one of our greatest joys in life. It’s why we do what we do!
Your child’s success is vital to your involvement. If you are able to reinforce at home what they’re learning in the center, their outcomes are going to be much more favorable than if you don’t. The more involved you can be, the more it benefits everyone.
We offer group parent training, parent support groups, work with siblings and extended family, and will always communicate with you one-on-one about how best to support and reinforce what we’re doing in therapy sessions with your child. We want you to feel confident and empowered and equipped with the skills to help your child grow and thrive emotionally, physically, and socially!
